Not pointing fingers here, but it's interesting that I mention three diversions, and the only one that gets commenter juices going is another comic book hero.

My log in the water. Thor was the silliest of my three diversions. The small County Clare movie was much better. The goshawk documentary was sublime. But look at what we're talking about now. The real boon of Brit actors is that they somehow always have time to make The Boys and Girl of County Clare.

Loki is the biggest weakness of the Thor movie. Eric Cartman has raised the bar astronomically high for trickster-god characters. The writers of Thor and the new Avengers flick didn't even try to reach it. That, and Hopkins should have been given more to do. The project was beneath him, but he seemed game in what little screen time he had.

Avengers would piss you off. Early on, Loki has a great line about setting humanity free from freedom, which thematically ends up amounting to exactly nothing. What a wasted opportunity.
